Upcoming Films to look forward to in 2015!

9 January 2015

It's a new year, and you know what that means ... so many new films to look forward to! From blockbuster squeals to stand alones films, there is something for everyone. So sit back, relax and put those January blues aside, and see if any of these soon-to-be-released films catch your interest.

Age of Adaline
Release Date: 1st May 2015
After a near life-and-death experience, Adaline has found herself rendered ageless at the biological age of 29 for almost 8 decades. Living a life of solitude, she meets Ellis - a man who awakens her passion for life.

When I first heard about this movie, I'll confess I was slightly sceptical. A woman who isn't ageing - seriously, what is Hollywood's obsession with the young and beautiful? But this trailer won me over. It's an interesting premise, combining the nostalgic elements of the past with the promise of the present. Adaline's character almost reminds me of a screen version of Tessa Grey - a woman who holds herself with classic, poise and wisdom of age. I'm so looking forward to hearing more, and seeing where this story goes!

Pitch Perfect 2
Release Date: 15th May 2015
The Barden Bellas are back for their senior year, aiming to win the International A-cappella competition - with just one catch. No American team has ever won before.

The much anticipated squeal finally makes its way to the big screen this year, and the battle to win is on! I have so many questions. Are Jesse and Beca are still together? Will there be friction between the Bellas and the Trebles as they fight to win? What even happened in the past three years?! Although I'll admit I don't think this squeal will surpass the sass and awesomeness of the first movie, I'm excited to see what challenges the girls face this time. We're in for an aca-adventure with a whole new soundtrack, that's for sure!

Big Hero 6
Release Date: 30th January 2015
When a criminal mastermind decides to take over the city of San Fransokyo, 14 year old robotics genius Hiro Hamada, alongside his robot sidekick Baymax and
his tech savvy friends, decide to jump into action.

I have been looking forward to this movie for almost two years, and the wait is finally almost over! This animated film looks pretty different from most, with clear signs of Japanese influence - from it's anime stylised characters, to the
upbeat cosmopolitan city of San Fransokyo. One of my favourite things about this film is it has a main lead from ethnic origin! One huge step for society! This story looks like one that will not disappoint either. With all that action and emotion, I can't wait to throughout be entertained!

The DUFF
Release Date: To be confirmed
From the popular novel comes an adaptation about a girl named Bicana, who after finding out she is the 'DUFF' ( The Designated Ugly Fat Friend)
of her social group, enlists the help of high school jock Wesley, to help change that status.

Although this adaptation seems to stray further away from the original plot of the book - which held some pretty deep sexual content - it appears to stay loyal to the moral of the book. Plus all that sass and sarcastic tone of the trailer just makes me laugh so much. I'm not going to lie, I'm a little worried that this story will just be passed off as a romantic teen comedy without any merit - which I know it is far from. Either way, I know it'll be enjoyable and thoroughly entertaining!

Tomorrowland
Release Date: 22nd May 2015
Bound by their shared destiny, former boy-genius Frank and Casey travel to a place somewhere in time and space, known as Tomorrowland, where their actions directly affect the world around them and themselves.

There is so much mystery and intrigue surrounding this movie. So little we know, and yet it sounds very interesting. The idea that there is a separate land that only two people can go to, sounds like a world full of possibility - and choas too. As Disney seems to be keeping very tight lip about this movie, I can only help but wonder and guess what we're all in for. Aliens? The potential apocalypse? Who knows. Until May 22nd that is!

The Age of Ultron
Release Date: 24th April 2015
When Ultron - one of Tony Stark's inventions - becomes hell bent on destroying the human race, the Avengers must once again come together to prevent the death of mankind.

Who isn't excited for this film? It feels like almost forever since The Avengers first made it's appearance almost three years ago! The follow up however, seems to be so much more intense. Ultron is a force to be reckoned with, especially with Quick Silver and Scarlet Witch on his side - who, get this, are the children of Magneto! Oh, how I just love seeing the Marvel universe expand on screen. The Avengers are in for a rough road!

The Scorch Trials
Release Date: 18th September 2015

After surviving the maze, Thomas, Teresa and the other gladers face another test called the Scorch Trials, as Wicked continues to search for a cure against the flare.

I'm pretty excited to see where this movie ventures to -especially after that shocker of an ending. (Can you till I still need to finish reading The Maze Runner series?).
There is something quiet eerie about this world that just puts me on my tip toes. But alas, the mystery is just too much for me. I want to know more about the universe, WICKED, and what has become of the world in this dystopian story.
Plus, I'm pretty excited to see Dylan O'Brien and Thomas Brodie-Sangster reprise their roles as Thomas and Newt!

Inside Out
Release Date: 24th July 2015
Uprooted from her life in Midwest, Riley finds herself moving to a new town when her father starts a new job in San Francisco. Through all these changes, Riley and her emotions (Joy, Fear, Anger, Disgust and Sadness) attempt to adjust to a new life in the city.

It's been almost three years since Pixar has come out with some original material, and this just does not disappoint! The idea that emotions are almost individuals that battle amongst themselves inside people is so unique and really entertaining to watch! Pixar even pin pointed how males and females handle things pretty differently - with a hilarious twist! So on point. This film looks to be perfect for all members of the family.

The Last Five Years

Release Date: To Be Confirmed

Based on the musical, The Last Five Years explores the love story of a struggling actress and novelist, including the break down of their relationship.

I've also found the 20s to be a really interesting period of time; where you're trying to find out who you are, make a life for yourself and settle down with a partner. This story explores those five long years within a couple's relationship and that time period, in song! Oh that does sounds like music to my ears.
