Five Free Ways to Entertain Yourself

Sometimes in life you find yourself with some free time on your hands, and just no real idea of how to fill the void. You just wish you had some kind of activity or subject to keep your mind entertained without having to break the bank. Especially all of you guys who are saving for some future plans of travel or fun. So without further ado, here are some ways of entertaining yourself for free.

1. Read Old Magazines
How many old magazines have you bought and shelved away over the last couple of years?That's content right there to get stuck into. It's interesting to see a physical copy of the way the world and fashion has changed, or even yourself. You've got reading material right on the front of your doorstep, why not make the most of it?

2. Explore your local area
Walk around your neighbourhood. Go to streets you've never really visited before, pathways you aren't sure where they led to. Get to know the place you're living in. You never know you may even stumble across something amazing. Just the other day I discovered this wonderful greenery minutes away from my doorstep, which I'd never even known existed before! There are local treasures to be found if you have the courage to explore.

3. DIY 
Ever find random items round your house that you just aren't sure what to do with? Use those unwanted or unused items, upcycle them. Turn them into something funky. Not only are you making the most of the things you have around you, but also creating a fun project for you to focus o,n outside of your usual activities. There are so many amazing DIY's out there on YouTube and the blogging scene that are so worth the try.

4. Educate yourself
Learn something new today. Find something that you want to learn about - it could be a skill or even a topic in history for instance, and learn all you can about it. 'But I have to go to university for that to happen Fatema, or even pay for a course.' No you don't buddy. Not at all. There are so many incredible sites out there now that offer free tutorials and learning courses - such as Skillshare and FutureLearn. Check them out! You may even find your next hobby.

5. Read
Reading is a great pastime. Not only are your entertaining yourself, but you are encouraging your mind to develop ideas and thoughts. Reading expands your current knowledge through exposing you to other individual's perspectives of life, and also develop your experiences through the fictional and reality. Weather it's a novel, a blog post or even a journal article, just read it. You never know when that information can come in handy.
